| Since 2001 the Grand Barista Championship (GBC) has been the premier barista competition in Australia attracting some of Australia's best barista talent, forging reputations, offering the richest competition prize pool since its inception and bestowing an honour of becoming a "Grand Barista".
The spirit of competition has developed the Australian espresso coffee industry to take pride of place amongst the best standard in the world. In a unique partnership with Orchestrale espresso machines of Treviso - Italy, the home of espresso, the GBC in 2009 is now an Asia Pacific competition. In 2010 the GBC will again be a global barista competition with partners from Hong Kong and Thailand joining the fold. The GBC format celebrates coffee and highlights espresso coffee flavour above all else as the motivating factor to establish the winners, however the true winners are the coffee drinking consumers that will enjoy the improved standards of espresso.
